Underbank Primary School is a new school located within the village of Crossford and provides Nursery and Primary education facilities for Crossford and the surrounding areas.

Davie and McCulloch were appointed by South Lanarkshire Council to carry out the full M+E design for the facility. Due to its rural location, there was no mains gas available for the heating system, therefore a high efficiency Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) system was proposed to meet the full heating and hot water demand for the school.

This system was complimented by a roof mounted solar PV system to offset the increased electrical energy demand for the heat pumps. The building and services were fully modelled using our Building Information Modelling software (Revit) to BIM Level 2. Detailed energy, daylight and natural ventilation analyses were carried out from the outset of the project to ensure the building provided maximum efficiency and optimum environmental conditions.
