We were appointed by Turner and Townsend to carry out the full M+E design for Langlee Primary School in Galashiels, which provides Nursery, Primary, and Additional Support Needs education facilities for Galashiels and the surrounding areas. The campus also has extensive community and sports facilities.  

The three-storey design presented a number of challenges in regard to the M+E systems, in particular for the design of the natural ventilation solution. This required detailed dynamic thermal modelling by our engineers to confirm that a natural ventilation strategy would provide suitable environmental conditions once the building was operational. 

The building and services were modelled using IES Virtual Environment and our Building Information Modelling software (Revit) to BIM Level 2. Detailed energy and daylight analyses were carried out from the outset of the project by our low energy consultants to ensure the building provided maximum efficiency and optimum environmental conditions.
