Appointed by Kier Scotland, we carried out full M+E design services for over 20 new build schools for South Lanarkshire Council over a 10 year period. The schools ranged in size, education and care requirements and included Nursery, Primary, Additional Support Needs and facilities for secondary school aged children with social, emotional and behavioural needs. 

Various low energy solutions were applied across the schools based on the most suitable fit for the specific project and to meet changing energy and carbon emissions targets set by the council and local building control and planning authorities. 

These included Biomass Boiler installations, Air Source Heat Pump installations, Solar PV systems and Micro CHP systems. Since 2010, each school has been fully modelled using our Building Information Modelling software (Revit) to BIM. Detailed energy, daylight and natural ventilation analyses were carried out at feasibility study stage to ensure each building provided maximum efficiency and optimum environmental conditions.
