Davie and McCulloch were appointed to carry out the design and management for the upgrade to the existing main LV electrical switchboard and generators serving Gartnavel General Hospital, Glasgow.

The works comprised full replacement of the existing main LV switchboards and installation of 2no. 2MVA diesel standby generating sets c/w mains synchronisation to reduce disruption and simplify maintenance. As the hospital was fully operational 24/7, the works had to be designed and planned to minimise disruption and downtime as far as possible.

This required detailed planning and close liaison with the client throughout the project.
